One year of Ro

It feels hard to believe that a whole year has passed since I introduced Ro on this blog. It has been a truly beautiful year. The first two months were hard and exhausting, just like everybody warned. It felt like I could only rest in blocks of 2 or 3 hours, between nursing. At 2 months, Ro had his first "vacation", a weekend trip to Wimberly.

By the time he was three months old Ro had started sleeping through the night, breaking the good habit only for new teeth, sickness and jet lag. He was flipping on to his belly and responding with smiles & cooing. Ro had his first baby sitter at 5 months and celebrated our new president at 6 months. He started crawling and playing with his doggies. He also had his first big fever at 6 mnths.

At 7 mo, Ro started pulling up and peeking over his crib. He celebrated his first Christmas by climbing into the cartons we had our decorations in :) At 8 months he went to his first costume party, dressed as Darth Vader. At 9 months he walked holding a hand, traveled to India & Germany and sprouted tooth #3 & #4. He started walking in his 10th month and got his first real bruise by walking off the step leading from our bedroom to the patio. Oops.

In his 11th month, Ro started taking "walks" in our front & back yards and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the leaves and twigs and neighborhood dogs. He started picking important papers off the dining table (dangit!) and said "nana" (banana). He drank real milk and displayed the start of stranger anxiety. And now he is a year old! On his birthday we gave him a giant cookie, a toy plane & a toy train. He had his first birthday party this weekend and had so much fun playing with his many little friends and with his cousins who came to celebrate with him.

We look forward to many years of fun and happiness with him. We know that "real life" (aka tantrums and stubbornness and "I hate you"s) will be there, but the happy parts will keep us going. We love you, little Ro!
