In my previous post with the Day 4 summary, I mentioned we were headed out for a massage. We went to a *really nice* spa called Sego Lily which was neatly situated merely 3 miles from our hotel. It was nirvana from the moment we walked in. Water cascades, soft music, plush robes - the works. This was MrM's first spa massage and I was worried he would find it excessively froufrou. But thanks to two amazing masseuses and a lovely couples room, we both had a wonderful experience. They have a sauna in each changing room (mens/womens) and we both took advantage of it before stepping out of our paradise. I highly recommend this place!
No trip is complete without delicious food, and we had already had one awesome meal at a restaurant in Sandy called Tiburon (reviewed in this post). As we strolled around Park City on day 3 of our trip, we called Renee who sent us over to "her restaurant" - Chimayo - for some vicarious living. Having eaten at way too many little shacks in New Mexico, I was a little surprised to find a high-end Southwestern restaurant, but the food and service blew me away.
Our appetizer was ceviche, served with a crispy flatbread. We also ate plentiful amounts of their house-bread (with a green chile cream sauce) along with this. Nicely flavored and delicious. The one big shrimp on top was the only thing that didn't taste as good (a little tough for high-end shrimp).

We decided to share the main course after having had the "giant American portions" experience at Tiburon. In retrospect, we should have supplemented this with a shared soup, but I was secretly happy that I was eating normal human portions for a change :)
Elk, with a potato-leek quesadilla (that thick disc on the plate) and asparagus. Every portion of this meal was delicious. The elk, cooked medium rare, was tender and well flavored, with sesame seeds. The quesadilla was delicious, not loaded with obscene amounts of cheese, and a refreshing thing to bite into. The asparagus was well prepared (what else can one say about asparagus?).
Excellent meal, which was accompanied by a house margarita (yum!) and followed by a coffee-drink for dessert. Speaking of dessert - not a great selection for a couple who doesn't eat much coconut or cinnamon with their sweets, but a very good selection of coffee mixed drinks made up for it. And if you are walking along Main Street looking for Chimayo, here is what it looks like.
After our storm days we had another day of bright sun and we returned to Solitude for a last hurrah.
Meera demonstrating "mommy skiing", where your legs insist on being hip-width apart :)
MrM demonstrating his braking so I could catch some snow in this pic.
In all the skiing was excellent! We added some more variety to our trip by going to a practice session of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. There must have been more than a hundred singers. When we first went in, there was a whole string orchestra and they easily put the Austin Symphony to shame :) After a while, the instrumentalists (except organ player) left and we heard the vocalists perfect their stuff. It was a very quiet and musical way to wrap up the night.
This trip was a great break from our routine and the luxury of not having anyone dependent on you is such a liberating (and rare) feeling! We enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks to my mom for making it possible!

Thanks for the vacation write-up! I actually did feel that the spa was a bit froufrou. :)
But that's alright during an all indulging vacation. And the choir practice was really excellent! There were over 250 people singing from the top of their lungs to the tunes of an impressive church organ. There were more than 300 seats for the choir. Listening made me have shivers running down my back from the massive organ base filling the room and the crystal clear voices singing - beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed our fine state. If you look at the maps, you'll see we are buried in snow today - 20 inches in the mountains. Sigh, too little too late!
It was so nice to see you two! i hope you keep Ski Utah on your vacation plans for years to come.
It sounds like you had a great time! Although I would never eat elk, the picture of the food looked scrumptious. And who wouldn't love a "froufrou" spa experience?
