Things I learned this weekend

I had a minor surgery on my left wrist to remove a cyst last Friday. As I went about my weekend, I learned a few things.

  • You can't shave two underarms with only one hand.
  • You can pick a child up one hand short, as long as you have both arms intact.
  • You can take pictures as long as you aren't trying to zoom or focus with your second hand.
  • You can't make a ponytail with one hand, but you can manage if your second hand is a little bit functional.

In addition to these hand-related gems, I also figured out:
  • Your kid's face can be cleaned by letting a dog lick it.
  • Yellow nail polish makes your toes look like they have jaundice. (Really? You want picture proof?)
  • At 3 years, a kid will sometimes just flush without peeing and try to hoodwink you when you ask him to go potty.
  • If you say "I'm coming to help you" and you don't immediately get up, your child is likely to say "No you aren't".

MrM has been writing a series of "Baby Logic" posts on his website, and this took place with me.

Me: Ro, do you want pancakes?
Ro: Yes!

Ro: What's that?
Me: Syrup.
Ro: Did it come from the Syrup Jet?
Me: What?

Ro: The syrup jet! Daddy said its a Syrup Jet.
Me: That's a Cirrus jet Ro, and no, syrup doesn't come from there.

I guess Ro learned something this weekend too :)
